You Beauty Discovery July 2014

Each month with You Beauty Discovery they have a selection of products where you choose TWO items.  They will then add a few extra beauty treats and a magazine explaining all the products that were available that month, pop them all into a very cute and pretty beauty box and send them straight to your door.  You get all this for an amazing price of £6.95 and FREE P&P! This is by far the cheapest monthly beauty box I have found so far.

This months theme was You Travel.  So it was either smaller products for you to take on holiday, or products to get you ready for holiday, such as self tanning products.  I some how managed to miss out on the products I wanted this month, they must have sold out extremely quickly! There was TanOrganic, Oil Arganic Body Oil, and L’Occitane Shampoo & Conditioner Duo.  These were the products I originally wanted, but I guess everyone wanted the same and they must have sold out within hours of opening.  So I wasn’t too impressed, and decided to just pick two products anyway and see what I thought.

Balm balm lip balm

Balm Balm – Rose Geranium Lip Balm

This was the first product I chose.  It is 7ml and worth £3.50.  I went for this as I do like lip balms and they do always come in handy.  This product is 100% natural and 100% organic.  This is in a little pot and is Rose Geranium scent, it reminds me of Turkish delight, I guess that is the rose scent.  I love Turkish delight so the scent it great, and it also kind of tastes like it as well! So I can’t complain there!  This balm, even though it does say lip balm, is not just for your lips.  You can use this balm where ever you feel you need it.  It is light weight and does feel slightly different to lip balm.  It feels more like a cleansing balm.  Being able to use this where  ever needs it is great for holiday, it is in a very light tub and it the right size to pop in your bag and not make any difference to the weight.  So a very versatile balm to add to your suitcase.  So even though I wouldn’t have originally picked this item I’m glad that I now have it.  This will definitely be coming with me on my holiday.

L'Oreal Mega Volume Miss Manga

L’Oreal – Mega Volume Miss Manga Mascara

This is 8.5ml worth £8.99.  I went for the mascara as its is something I use everyday.  I usually  use Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara and no other type, but I’m always willing to try other types.  I have not yet tried this, but I will give it a go soon.  The wand is bendy as you can see the ridge in the picture, so it is flexible.  It is a big brushed wand, so will hopefully give good coverage.  It is formulated with collagen spheres and polymers for ultimate volume and hold.  The colour is black, which is what I use daily.  It is meant to give a cute Manga effect look, so I actually can’t wait to try this one out.  Have you tried it? What do you think of this mascara?

Dove Shave Cream

Dove Men +Care – Shave Cream Hydrate+

So this was one of the extras you get in the box.  A bit strange that you get a male product, I guess they are trying to reach out to the men in our lives.  So this is one to give your partner or dad, or that special man in your life.  For me I will be giving this to my partner, who will be happy to try it.  This is a 50ml sample worth 87p.  Full size is 200ml for £3.49.  I guess if your partner likes this product then it gives you an idea of something to get them for like a stocking filler or something.  But for me personally I would have rather received something I could use! But will all the beauty products I currently have I suppose it doesn’t hurt to have something I can give to him.

Egyptian Magic Cream

Egyptian Magic – All Purpose Skin Cream

This is a sachet sample 3ml worth around 62p. I do have a few other sachets of this, so I think I will empty them out into a small tub to make them easier to use.  This is an all natural product and contains Olive oil, Beeswax, Honey, Bee Pollen and Royal Jelly Extract.  This can be used as a moisturiser for face, hands and body.  It has a kind of Vaseline texture, but once warmed turns to more like an oil.  I will never complain about receiving samples of this as it such a useful product.

Agent provocateur fatale

Agent Provocateur – Fatale – Eau de Parfum

This is a 2ml sample worth £1.84.  Full size is 50ml for £46.  This can also be purchased in a 30ml and 100ml size.  I do find perfume samples like this quite handy, as it is easier to carry around than a full sized perfume bottle.  I like the little spray bottle samples.  The scent consists of spicy pink pepper and luscious fruits, with gardenia, royal iris and smoky touches of patchouli.  It also has base notes of musk, vanilla and chocolate.  I do actually really like this perfume, it is a nice evening scent and is quite strong and lasts on the skin well.  This is definitely the type of scents I go for, it is quite sweet and musky.  This is definitely a win for me.

Even though I was disappointed about not being able to get the products I wanted, I am still quite please with this box overall.  It has products which I will actually use, and one which I can give away (good job I have a partner!).  My box is worth £15.82.  So I have still got more than my monies worth with this box which I paid £6.95 for.  But I will definitely be making sure I pick my next box as soon as it goes live on the 1st of the month just after midnight.  I will make sure I stay up just to get my choices!   That is the only problem with this box, if you decide to make your choice in the morning, then the products you do want will pretty much be guaranteed to have sold out by then.

Did you get You Beauty Discovery this month? If so which products did you go for?
