Stila – “In The Light” Neutral Eye Shadow Palette

Stila in the light

Stila – In The Light Eye Shadow Palette – £25

I got this gorgeous palette from Birchbox using my points, yey I love their point system.  I am so glad that I picked this Stila Eye Shadow Palette, it is absolutely gorgeous.  It has 10 shadows and also comes with a waterproof eyeliner in Damsel.  There are matte and metallic colours so it is perfect for creating many different looks.  I really do like neutral colour palettes, I can never have enough of them.  These type of colours are just timeless and can be worn any time of the year as well.  You can never go wrong with a neutral eye look.

Inside the box you also get a handy little booklet that has examples of looks you can create and a how to guide including what colours to use.  This is great as it means you can try new things out even if you are a little unsure on what colours to pair together.

The palette also has a rather decent sized mirror in it.  These are always handy and it is a very good size so you could actually use this mirror and do your eye makeup whilst traveling.  The packaging is the usual cardboard but that doesn’t really bother me as it makes it lighter and means that it doesn’t take up much space in my make up draw.  Also if you do happen to drop this palette then it wont break on you. 🙂

The shadows are very good quality and feel really buttery and silky on the skin.  They are also highly pigmented and have good colour pay off, it is definitely worth the price tag.  I am a fan of bargain make up but it is also important to have some more high quality items as well.  This is definitely one of those items.

I love the second shade in (above) it’s called ‘Kitten’ and is a lovely light gold shimmer.  This would be great for highlight the eyelid and the corners of the eye.  The brown and pale mattes don’t show up too well on my skin tone but they are still gorgeous colours and great for blending.

Here is another gorgeous gold metallic colour called ‘Bubbly’, I am a fan of adding gold to brighten up your look and a little shimmer.  The shimmery blue colour ‘Night Sky’ is perfect to add a little drama to your look for the evening, it would also look fantastic used as a liner around the eye to add some colour.

Here are the two darkest shades of the palette, just look how pigmented these colours are!  You really wouldn’t need to use much of these colours to get that smokey eye look.

Here is a swatch of the eyeliner which is the colour Damsel, which is quite a dark brown.  I have smudged one to see how it would look if it was smudged around the eye.  This would give a softer look if you didn’t want it to be too dramatic.  I must say I do tend to only use black eyeliners but I will be giving this a go as I think it will really compliment the colours and give a softer look than using black.  Black may take away from the gorgeous colours too much.

This palette is perfect for creating looks for both day and night and if you are a fan of neutral colours then I would recommend this palette.  I really like the gold colours in this palette, it really makes it stand out.  You could make some really nice romantic looks with these, great for date nights!  I am so glad that I chose this palette I think I will get a lot of use out of it, it may even end up being my ‘go to palette’.  £25 really isn’t bad when you consider the fact that you are getting 10 high quality shadows and also an eyeliner that goes with them, which is £13 on it’s own!  It is even better though when you get to use your points with Birchbox and don’t actually have to spend any money getting this! 🙂

I don’t wear eye shadow that often, but when I do these are the type of colours I wear. Neutral for day and darker for night. I absolutely love this pallet!

I wear at least a little bit of eyeshadow every day, this palette is just so gorgeous. Every colour is really nice, there isn’t one I don’t like.
